Prayer of St. Francis Of Assisi


LORD, Make me an instrument of thy peace.

Where there is hatred let me sow love.

Where there is injury pardon.

Where there is doubt faith.

Where there is despair hope.

Where there is darkness light.

Where there is sadness joy.


Oh Divine Master,

grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled as to console.

To be understood as to understand

To be loved as to love.

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.

It is in dying that we are born

to eternal life.

:1: I love this prayer, and find it a very helpful one for meditative prayer, sometimes I may focus on a line from it, and have found that I can so often pray particular lines when there is a problem or issue that I need to hand over to Our Lord.....The whole prayer gives a deep sense of Peace I feel.:42:

I was sitting in a meeting one time and the topic was God's will. At the time I had been thinking alot about what God's will was for me - trying to figure that one out. My sponsor shared close to the end. She read this prayer and said for her that what was said in the prayer was what God's will was for her. Ah ha! :idea: The lightbulb went off for me. :1:
